Word vs. Photo Essay - Conveying the Message

A word-only style essay and a photo essay have different effects on the reader. When it comes to the subject of the Right's of the Child, the UN had two separate ways to convey their message about the rights of the child. In the first word-only essay, unicef specifically lists out the details in each article for every right that belongs to the child (anyone under the age of 18). In the photo essay of the article, unicef uses different photos from around the world to help better understand the deeper meaning behind the main point of each right given to adolescents. Although the word essay is very descriptive, the photo essay is very blunt and straight forward about the rights, but provides a very deep emotional appeal for the reader. But, even though the photo essay is very emotional and attention grabbing, it doesn't provide the extra information some would need to clarify. The word essay also has its weakness, lying in which it doesn't grab the readers attention at all by

Arguments - The fuel of our fire

In today's society, almost EVERYONE has to argue about something. Everyone wants their opinion and belief to be known and influence other people. Some people just naturally want to disagree with you because that's their genetic make up. People argue sometimes in order to get their opinions heard and for others to follow their beliefs. It may be hard to change someone's whole perspective of something, but arguing about it means you really care about it. An argument is an exchange of opposing views, although it can be associated with heated disagreements, arguments can simply be civilized opposing views combating each other to overthrow the weaker standpoint. First Post - English 1101

I am currently half way through my first week of college and it seems pretty interesting. The food is pretty good, my schedule is decent and most of the classes aren't too long. Most of my professors are pretty decent, they aren't too strict, except for my biology teacher. She's very strict and has no emotion at all. Everything should be fine, the only roadblock is all the reading I'm required to do. I'm not much of a reader unless I'm interested, but I'm not really interested in any of my classes, I just have to take them to move on. Hopefully this year will be a smooth transition and a year i get to meet people and grow and have fun. It shouldn't be too stressful, as long as i really take responsibility fro what I do at home.
